ROME August 29.
'C-in-C' Med' Congratulates Minesweepers. 10,000th Mine Swept.
"Admiral Sir John Cunningham Commander-in-Chief Mediterrananean Fleet, has sent a message of congratulation to all mine-sweepers on their achievement in sweeping 10,000 of the estimated number of mines that had been laid in the Mediterranean.
The distinction of sweeping the 10,000th went to H.M.S. Rosario
The message was addressed to British sailors and those of American, French, Greek, Italian and Turkish navies who assisted the British navy.
Minesweeping has been intensified, 2,500 mines have been swept since 'VE' Day."
