A Queen’s Messenger’s badge of office with collar in Royal colours. (1945). Per fess blue and green; a greyhound courant white collared barry gold red and gold. The practical joker in theatre called Tilleulenspiegel. Also a prize name of 1799. (Ship adopted by Ellesmere Port). (1942). White; a gnome proper habited green Castles in the air in the imagination. (Ship adopted by Rawtenstall). (1943). Blue; upon clouds of white a castle red. A French prize of 1810. The name translates as ‘ghost’ which can be linked to The Holy Ghost, a dove in Christian art. (Ship adopted by Friern Barnet). (1942). Blue; a fan-tailed pigeon statant proper.

Happiness or delight. The Greek Goddess Demeter was Goddess of Agriculture. (1943). Blue; in front of the sceptre of Demeter (Ceres) gold a basket of fruit proper. A lynx will invariably attack when disturbed. (1945). Red; a lynx sejant regardant proper.
Inimicus ferox fidus amicis: Fierce to foes, faithful to friends
A common insect. (1943).
Barry wavy of six white and blue; a fly proper.
Often seen in warmer waters. (1945). Blue; a flying fish proper.

The sacred fleece sought by Jason and the Argonauts. (1945). Gold; a fountain charged with a fleece gold. An island twelve miles from Malta and the first of the two to be inhabited. The paty cross was the early version of the Maltese Cross and both designs were displayed by the Knights of St. John. They can both be seen in the cathedral at Victoria, Gozo. (1943). Barry wavy of twelve white and blue; a pomme charged with a cross paty gold. A European rodent larger than the rabbit. (1944). Green; a plate charged with a hare sejant proper.

Ship adopted by Welling-borough. (1943). White; a bloodhound sejant proper. A monster of ancient Greece slain by Hercules. When one head was cut off, three would grow in its place. A single-ship action in August 1807. (Ship of WW2 adopted by Welling-borough). (1943). Blue; a seven headed dragon affronty gold. (French for "waxwing"). Ship captured by the “BOMBAY” off the Andaman Isles in 1807. (1944). White; a waxwing (genus: Bombycilla) rousant wings displayed proper. Heraldic representation of a jewel. (1945). Blue; an escarbuncle gold gemmed red.
